We have had the opportunity to travel and work and see all the areas of the world that we only dreamed about as a kid. As a mariner you realize quickly that the world is a lot smaller than most people think. It has been amazing. School was really tough but the best decision I've made in life was to go there. I am currently working as a Captain on a 600 ft ship that operates off the coast of South America and have 6 months of the year off to travel. I love it. Glad you enjoy the blog. You hit the right spot. I stoned many warsaw while commercial diving in the 70's. Decompression diving means you don't want to miss the stone spot! I only fee dive now and have not seen a warsaw in many years. At 73 I now rarely get below 60 feet though. My son, a senior in high school, was rejected recently due to a perforated eardrum.(He had a tube in one ear that was just removed yesterday) Anyway, at 18 he been to many places and has become an adventure junkie .....my fault.He just started freediving/ spearfishing and is in love with it. My point is I think my son realizes that if he's fortunate enough to be accepted next year and eventually graduate from the MMA ....he'll be exposed to things and places that no other career can provide.
