Awesome fish!!! Congrats on landing it. Since first reading about it in IFSN, we have discussed it at length, as it clearly shows the difference between a fixed barb spear and a 'slip tip' or 'drophead' spear. No ways a fish that size would ever be landed with such a low shot on a fixed barb spear. So well done on using the right equipment....By the way, I live on the East Coast of South Africa with the Aliwal Shoal as my backyard reef, where we shoot loads of Wahoo, all with fixed barbs, and it has made me think about using a drophead spear....Excellent catch!!!

Cam, congrats on a true monster fish. I have been out in that water in Venice, with Al Walker. For a Florida boy it is some Scary stuff. I really enjoy this blog, you do a great job telling the stories of world class spearing trips.

Bill Crawford has a picture of this fish on facebook. Now I understand the murky water. Your posts to e mail subscribers for some reason stretch beyond the computer screen and I came here to read with out moving the text left and right to finish a sentence.

Hard to imagine fish like they find out of Venice. Congratulations on another great fish. Wahoo food is some of the best.

Looks like I'm going to start using my float line more and more since having a close call with a sow snapper below 60 ft. When I had to have air, I looked up and still had 20 ft to go :) Bad feeling.
