Here is the video from last year shooting with one of the original Riffe Pole Spears trying them out on Pelagics in the bluewater. This school of tunas stayed around us all day and we were able to keep them chummed up and deny the sharks that were constantly attacking each and every fish we shot. I think we landed about 75% of the fish this day which is impressive given that there was a school of 100+ sharks around at any given time.
Fish was shot with a 25lb Riffe Bungey, single float, and 10 ft Riffe Pole spear.

Thanks for posting the video on this! I love the scene with the tuna swarming around you. I’m curious to know if earning a world record is still as exciting for you since you are so accomplished? I’m assuming that’s why you continue to raise the bar for yourself; i.e., polespearing pelagics!?!
I don’t think my love for the sport will ever change but it is really enjoyable to constantly challenge ourselves to do something different and stay ahead of the curve. As a kid I would never have believed it was possible to shoot most of the species we hunt now with a gun and with a pole spear is just unheard of so there is definitely a great sense of pride when we work hard and set the bar even higher each trip we are out.
