I know you all seem to enjoy the abuse that I get from the rest of the world that does not spearfish and who, in their infinite wisdom, take it upon themselves to try an educate me on the ways of the world while actually embarassing themselves even more through poor diction and unfounded knowledge of the world outside of their cubicles…
The majority of the comments are so crude and not fit for posting on Spearblog which I have attempted to get as Politically correct as possible and family oriented. If you want the full effect minus my Bleeeeeeps just look at the comment sections on the videos on Youtube.
I’ve done my best not to let the majority of these bother me and most I can’t justify a response, so luckily or unluckily as it may be, my fellow spearos are quick to jump on anyones case that bad mouths another of our kind. Lets not stoop too low but do have fun educating them if you take it upon yourself to respond to them.
Anyways, if you haven’t already checked out some of the Video section on here have a visit and check the comments on some of them. Here are a few of my favorites from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nvMRIFUDBk Big Bull Dolphin Spearfishing.
“what? the f@#$ is wrong with u people?” Might be the best statement ever and doesn’t really warrant a response so everyone pretty much ignored him…
“Yur sick how could u kill such an amazing creature I bet u? didn’t eat it or anything find a new hobbie rather that kill are earth” Although I do have spell check on my computer I don’t it has reached some of the far corners of the earth in places such as England. Sorry kids but I do appreciate these fish more than you can ever understand. Its not like we are clubbing seals. This one had a rather abusive response from some California diver: “b$#@$ STFU i bet you kill thing too.? you f@#$ing hippy.” Once again no spell check in parts of California but glad you have my back.
Youtube definitely has pretty loose policies on personal attacks, language and even political propoganda apparently:
“I hope you? put them out once they are on the boat , it not you guys deff suck Obama’s d*$k!!” WOW. A bit harsh. Do people really need to take it that far? The internet is an amazing thing it makes people believe they can just say whatever they want with no regard for what it makes them look like or who is reading it…
and lastly
“ide like to? see that thing spear u !!!A HOLE !!” This is probably the most common response I get and I fully appreciate the effort. Actually, yes, we do get speared by fins, bitten by sharp teeth, spined by sea urchins, chased by sharks (and the odd pissed off Leatherback turtle), run over by boats, and guilt tripped by wives and girlfriends on occasion. (not you sweetheart) It all adds to the challenge.
All right that last one was pretty embarassing and I hate to post it but it gives you an idea of what people think of me and have the nerve to say on the internet. Lets check out a nice dive with a friendly Leatherback Turtle who decides I’ve videoed him long enough…

Good fun. Lets see what our nature lovers have to say…
“So how long were you harassing? the reptile before it decided to slap you with an injunction from mother nature” Awesome. Well played sir, well played. I have no response only laughter at my own folly. So true
And here is the buzzword of the week: dunderhead. Lets try and use it in a sentence now:
“I didn’t see an attack. I did see a leatherback taking more breaths than usual after being pursued.? He should have attacked the dunderhead. Next time float and observe.”
“Why did you have a speargun? That’s why theyre endangered? ass hole!” Ummmmm what? I have no response for this one.
And last but not least, with absolutely no control over their Tourettes…
“to bad he didnt bite your face off for f$#@ing? with him you piece of S!@#!”
So next time someone gives you the evil eye when you are cleaning your dinner on the dock remember to smile and wave and be nice. There is no reason to drop to the level of the people who are unabashedly abusing us on the internet. We need to stick together and represent Spearfishing for what it is, ecologically friendly, fun and a great chance to be in the water enjoying all it has to offer.
And remember, Gorillas are waaaaaaaaaaaay more endangered than Turtles.

Good job Cam
well said @@@$!@&%^!
Good stuff man!
What’s a turtle have to live for anyway?
Most of them probably eat fish from the market or in a restaurant and have no idea how it got to their plate. Out of sight, out of mind I guess.
