Roy Ogi, Bluewater Mentor part IV

“All I’ve got is memories of Roy, like the time there was no tuna and we were drift diving over blue water. Roy shot a rainbow runner. up high so he could hang it.
waiting another 3 minutes another rainbow runner came up from the blue. I waited a few minutes Roy told me to shoot it. So I did up high. So then we were both hanging Rainbow Runners from our spears
drifing over blue water. Roy says to me. “oh bro what if a 100kg tuna comes upto us now, shit” hehehe
I have hundreds of personal moments with the guy.
Stew had a great story. Insane. That was cool to read.

Yeah the cool thing was he said prayers before every meal and every dive. Our friend Jon dived with just a reelgun at the crazy spot with all the Doggies. Roy did not get off the boat. I asked Roy “you gonna dive bro?”
“no my friend is going to dissapear he is diving without a float” super worried about everyone else. Never a care about himself.

Another Trip to NP our friend Jon had a bazooka 4 rubber gun with sliptip and a small float. I asked Jon what hes gonna shoot. He relpied “I only shoot small tuna under 10 Kgs for eating,
I leave the breeding tuna alone” Roy was onto him early. “why do you have a bazooka with a sliptip for small tuna JON???” “Jon wont be able to resist the big boy and he will lose everything”
We were diving for about 3 hours. I was diving 5 meters across from Jon. I looked over to see Jon with his gun in the air. “I just shot a 60kg tuna Phil can you help me look for my float?”
He lost everything,  just as Roy told him.
Roy was the leader of our little spearfishing club he would call “BLACK MONKEY SPEARFISHING CLUB”. Stew would call it “the gay banana spearfishing club, we use banana floats and wear pink g-strings”

Every trip out with Roy was a trip I’ll never forget. He guided me into my first doggie. Diving isnt the same without him. Always making everyone around him laugh.
So this is for you to understand the guy Cam. this is the guy we Loved.”
