Sports teams go through hours of video footage each week reviewing plays over and over, dissecting each step and tackle, all with the goal of improving their performance when the time does comes to do it for real.
Spearfishing and freediving should be no different.
Think about your diving that day and look at pics and video. Replay each dive in your head and think of how you would have done it differently and each day you will improve and be more efficient.
In the picture above is Ryan whom I had the pleasure of watching dive yesterday. I try to learn something from everyone that I spend time in the water with and Ryan in this photo is doing just about everything right.
He has reached the right depth and can see the bottom so he is just drifting.
Relaxed he is falling to the bottom and from the angle of his legs you can see that his descent has been slowed and he is intent on shooting something that wasn’t directly below him.
His gun is extended but his arm is relaxed despite being straight.
The most important part of diving and hunting is being relaxed.
If you are relaxed the fish and bait and sharks and everything else around you will do the same and allow you to close the distance and make your shot.
Good times yesterday. Thanks again to Christian of On The Edge Bar and Grill in Fort Pierce. Great host and I’m looking forward to some more time on the water with you all.
