This was one of the prettiest days I’ve had on the East Coast in the past few years. Nolan Sadorf took the pic. I had swum to the front of the spot and shot two nice Mutton Snappers you can see on my belt and made a dive to show the guys where the secret spot was for the Mangrove Snappers. Dove down and snuck around the corner, bait parted and this guy took a shot with the 110 in the head before he could even react.

Its amazing diving these same spots year after year and coming to find how consistently fish stay in same spots. On some of my long flights back and forth across the world I’ve  drawn out spots and marked where I’ve seen each species of fish.

For Snappers, once you find a little patch of Reef,  hole in a wreck, or ledge that they like, for years to come you will find fish of the same caliber in the same spot.

In saying that, to assure that there will be more next year and the year after, I leave a few and never try and “wipe” them out.

All comes back to taking care of the resource and maintaining it for the future but the fact of the matter is, there is no better way of attracting one fish, than to have one of his buddies invite him over and let him know it is already ok.

This particular spot, I’ve seen Cubera Snappers for the past 6 years and never had a chance to pull the trigger on one. Today was the day.

So today I made this my profile pic on Facebook to remind myself how nice summer can be.

Here is the pic after I touched it up on the computer:

I for one am not scared to post an old picture when it is a good fish. This is a Cubera from late this Summer East Coast of Florida. Pic by Nolan Sadorf
