Good little video to show one technique on how to defog your mask. I’ve never done it this way but sounds like it works. How do you do yours? Whenever I get a new mask, I use toothpaste and wipe it on the inside of the lens of a new mask and then wash it back off with warm fresh water and never have any issues with my masks. For my face, a Riffe Naida and a Mantis LV (low volume) are my top choice. Whats your technique for preparing...

I’ve been free dive spearing for just over a year in the Keys , and of course the Hogfish 21.8# is really impressive since thats what I hunt for here. I usually don’t feel comfortable hunting in more than 40-50ft , but i get a little better every time i go out. Any tips on Hogs? Hey man thanks for the question and it Hogfish no matter how good you get at spearfishing will always be one...
Read MoreBreath Hold Test
This isn’t the first or the last time you will see this test running around the net but its an easy one that any of you can do. Do a proper breath up if you want, or just dive straight into it. When you are ready, start the stopwatch and hold down the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz key. Cheat if you want but you’re only fooling yourself! At the end of your breath hold, write down your time and what you did for a breath up. We’ll...
Read MoreHow-to: Floatline vs. Reel
Hey Cameron, I had a question about float lines and reels. Are reels a replacement for float lines? Is it much more safe to use a float line when beginning? I’m assuming you don’t use a reel and floatline together. Which is honestly best and safest. Thank you for the help. I appreciate it. -jake Jake thanks for the question. We’ve been discussing this for the past few weeks and it is an ongoing topic amongst spearos...
Read MoreReel or Floatline: or reel and Floatline?
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spearblog/173623456007900 Interesting to see what people are saying about what set up they are using for Spearfishing. I am surprised that so many people actually use a combination reel and float line set up. Let us know how you are rigging this set up if it is what you are diving with. In Australia is the first place I’d seen guys hunting Bream down in Sydney diving with a small weight attached to their...

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spearblog/173623456007900 Check out Spearblog.com on Facebook and let me hear what you use the most. FLOAT LINE? REEL? Pole Spear? Riding Rig? Free Shaft? I know that the majority of you dive in a number of different situations and I personally have used almost everything at one point or another all the way down to a three prong hand spear thrown from the shore line. For most everything I do I prefer a Float...

Depending on where you dive there will be a number of different ways to help blend in to your surroundings and thereby make fish more apt to come closer. There is one fish in the world that I have the most respect for as much as I despise it at the same time. If you can hunt Mu, you can hunt 99% of the fish in the world. If you can hunt Mu well… You are waaaaaay ahead of the curve and need to go ahead and keep your secrets to your...
Read MoreSinus issues and diving question
Cameron, Great blog and post; Informative and well written as always. I wanted to pick your brain concerning our bodies and the strain on multiple dives per day. I’ve gone out as you have and performed 100-150 dives in a single day. But trying to go back out the next day I regularly seem to have a sinus issue and cannot manage to clear, even after taking Sudafed, or any other remedy. Do you have a secret solution? You happen to dive a fair...

Read MoreBest White Seabass Videos
White Sea Bass This is one if not my favorite. After seeing so many fish speared on video I know I speak for many spearos in saying that it is the freeswimming fish that really get my blood flowing. There are some great clips in here and some huge croakers. Not a smart fish and the diver is very calm and doesn’t spook them. A lot to learn here. Great stuff. Another good one. This is pretty accurate for your typical WSB dive. If you...
